The Suva Grammar School anthem echoed in the background as current and former students converged at the school to light the touch to signify the start of the week long Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Hundreds of ex-Grammarians marched through the streets of Suva this morning to mark the historic occasion and many have travelled from around the world to be part of the celebrations.
About 2,000 ex-Grammarians and their families are currently at the school where the formalities of the opening of the celebration are still underway.
SGS Ex-Students Association president Jasmine Tam welcomed everyone present.
Addressing his fellow ex-Grammarians, Patron Gerald Barrack called on current and future students to be proud of being part of the Suva Grammar family.
Celebrations to mark the 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations will continue throughout the week until July 31st.
