Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase said the SDL is ready to talk with an open mind about the path to democracy and what can be achieved after the elections.

Qarase said it is important for him to meet the Interim Prime Minister so that they can work together to move Fiji back to democracy by March 2009.

The SDL leader said it is now critical to have the elections in 2009 and also revealed that he is ready to talk to Bainimarama about other issues that the interim government feels that should be put in the priority list for parliament to assess, if the SDL gets back into power.
