There could be some major developments today as the SDL party is now hinting that they are now ready to engage with the interim government in trying to find ways to ensure elections are held and the country returns to democratic rule.
SDL Leader and ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase had revealed to Fijivillage that he will meet with the senior executives of the SDL today where they will discuss the next step the party needs to take to engage with the interim government.
Qarase said the comments by the interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama that he proposing to invite all the registered political parties this month to a meeting to discuss and agree on an agenda towards constitutional and sustainable democratic governance is very encouraging.
In a statement on Fiji Day, Bainimarama said he intended to renew his invitation to the SDL and its supporters to join the National Council for Building a Better Fiji (NCBBF) and the proposed President's Dialogue Forum.
