SDL Denies Facing Financial Difficulties
Fijivillage News has established that some blogsites and other sites have been publicising SDL's bank account number for people to make donations to pay for the Queens Counsels hired to fight SDL's cases.
When we questioned SDL National director Peceli Kinivuwai about the matter, he only confirmed to Fijivillage News that the party will be seeking financial donors and public support to pay for legal fees in various cases the party will be taking to court.
Kinivuwai said the party used a lot of money to pay for the two Queens Counsels from Australia, however he did not want to divulge the total amount of money paid to the two QC's.
Meanwhile, the telephone line of the official party office of the SDL at MacGregor Road has remained disconnected since yesterday. SDL Leader and Former Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase said he was unaware about the telephone line disconnection. He was also unaware whether it was due to non-payment as he said that he never uses that line. Kinivuwai said it was due to a wrong cheque payment. He said there are no problems and the line should be reconnected by today after the payment is made.
