The Chairman of the Sugar Cane Growers Council has stressed that there is no political interference in the council as claimed by some people.
Jain Kumar said some people have this mindset that this is the reason why cabinet decided to dissolve the council.
Close to a million dollars each year is spent to run the council, which has 38 councilors for different districts however the council has 11 board members who make majority of the decisions.
The council was formed in 1985.
