The Sugarcane Growers Council still has not started the winding up of its operations though the cabinet decided last month to dissolve the council by end of next month.
Council Chairman, Jain Kumar said they do not want the full council to be dissolved for the benefit of the sugarcane farmers.
Kumar said close to one million dollars each year is spent to run the council and for the last two years they have reduced their budget to over $900,000.
The Council was made up of 38 councillors for different districts as the council has 11 board members, 8 from National Farmers Union and Fiji Cane Growers Association who make majority of the decisions.
The council was formed in 1985.
