The Sugar Cane Growers Council elections are expected to be held at the end of this month.

Chairman, Jain Kumar said more discussions on the election is expected to be held in the council's Board meeting this Friday.

It has been confirmed that an acting Chief Executive Officer for the Growers Council will be appointed during this meeting after former CEO, Jai Gawander resigned from his position and joined the Sugar Institute of Fiji last month.

President Ratu Josefa Iloilo deferred the Growers Council elections last year to be held this year and the SCGC is currently preparing for the elections.

The current 38 member council has 24 councilors from the National Farmers Union, 12 from the Fiji Cane Growers Association and two independent councilors.
