The Sugar Cane Growers Council has hit out at the Cane Growers Association for calling on the SCGC board and its members to resign immediately for not being able to secure the European Union funding.
SCGC Chairman Jain Kumar said that the Cane Growers Association's call is unwarranted and association is politicizing the whole issue.
According to Kumar, the SCGC board in no way was involved in the discussions with the EU to secure the funding given to the sugar industry.
Yesterday, Cane Growers Association General Secretary, Bala Dass called on the Interim Sugar Minister and the SCGC board to resign.
