Suva City Council Special Administrator Chandu Umaria said they will be installing more CCTV surveillance around Suva.
Umaria said their next project on CCTV surveillance is at the Suva Market and the Bus Stand.
He said this is also important to ensure safety and security of vendors, customers, pedestrians, tourists and the monitoring of illegal activities.
Umaria added that to enhance the safety and security they will be installing cameras in council properties at the main administration building, foreshore car park and Samabula works depot.
He also said they are promoting partnership with the private sector and the business houses on installation of these cameras in streets and public areas for safety reasons.
