The Suva City Council is now looking at ways to address the increase in the growth of people living in the squatter settlements around the capital city.
Lord Mayor, Ratu Peni Volavola said it was a concern for the council because in places like Wailea in Vatuwaqa, Jittu Place and the Muanivatu Settlement most of the people living in these areas do not have proper facilities.
Also, yesterday in the Fiji Labour Party's Delegates Conference it has resolved that more focus should be made on upgrading rural areas to stop the rural/urban drift.
Party Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry said that this would assist in improving the economic situation and will also resolve many social problems people currently face.
