The Suva City Council should sit down first with the various unions before they come up with any plans that will affect their members.
This follows revelations by the Suva Lord Mayor, Ratu Peni Volavola that the council is considering the possibility of contracting out the repairs of road works to a private company.
Speaking to Village News, Public Employees Union General Secretary Pita Delana said that the Council needs to follow procedure if they want to go ahead with their proposal.
Volavola earlier revealed that due to the continuous deterioration of road conditions, the council members had proposed that the road repairs be contracted out.
