The Suva City Council has placed an indefinite ban on the sale of cooked or raw mana which comes into effect form the first of next month.
This was revealed by the Director Health Services Nacanieli Kotoiwasawasa at a meeting today with more than 50 market vendors from Tailevu, Nausori and Rewa.
According to Kotoiwasawasa, they are also going to carry out a review of the market by laws.
Kotoiwasawasa said they will only allow vendors to sell produce in an unprepared state.
The Turaga ni koro of Nakorovou, Rewa, Setoki Serevi said they will be severely affected by this decision.
Setoki who was present at the meeting today stressed they are rely a lot on selling raw mana.
The council is yet to give a clarification as to why the sale of raw mana has been stopped.
