Over $2 million in tax payer rates are yet to be collected by the Suva City Council.
In their last Council meeting, Council members were informed that out of the $12 million owed to the Council only 9 million has been collected.
Suva Lord Mayor, Ratu Peni Volavola reveals that with the amount that they have collected, they used to provide a satisfactory level of public service to the public but the amount due to the municipality is just an average figure and it is a much bigger amount owed to them.
According to Volavola, the Council will be doing their best to recover this amount.
