Following a meeting between the Suva City Council and Health Ministry yesterday, the council has decided to lift the ban placed on 11 food items sold at the Suva Market.

These eleven items were classified as low and of minimum risk to the consumers and items such as grated cassava wrapped in leaves,ivi,baked dalo and cassava,sila, pudding ,fried fish and smoked fish are the fewer items that can be now sold at the market.

Vendors have been urged to ensure that these food are prepared and sold in a hygienic manner.

However, ban is still placed on food items that are considered as high risk which includes ready to be eaten be eaten, that can or will support the growth of food poisoning bacteria.

These food items are cooked fish, Seaweed in coconut milk,kokoda,  palusami,Cooked prawns, nama and mana.
