The Suva City Council is now looking at scrapping a number of positions within the council as it initiates an internal restructure program to streamline service delivery and enable the funds to be channeled into other capital works.

Special Administrator for Suva and Lami Chandu Umaria revealed to Fijivillage that they are seriously looking at positions that become vacant and whether they need to fill the post.

Umaria revealed that one example is the scrapping of the Public Relations Officers post which will help save around $25,000 annually and stressed that they will not lay off workers or make anyone redundant through the restructure program.

Umaria added that they aim to save around $50,000 through this exercise this year.
