The Suva City Council is hoping that retailers in the capital city will take advantage of the leeway being given to allow them to operate on public holidays and on days when cruise liners pay a visit.
After the over 2000 tourists onboard the Cruiseliner Sun Princess expressed frustration that shops in Suva were closed on the Fiji day Public Holiday, SCC Spokesperson Jillian Hicks reiterates that they were given the option to open for business.
Hicks said while it was disappointing that the business houses did not take advantage of the situation, they hope they will consider opening when another vessel calls into port.
