The Suva City Council has welcomed the move by the Consumer Council of Fiji in promoting and making restaurant hygiene a priority with consumers.
The Council's acting director for Health Vijay Chand said the nationwide campaign titled "Make Restaurant Hygiene Your Concern Today" is a good initiative and should enhance the levels of service and food served in our restaurants.
Chand said the Council has a similar campaign where they carry out daily inspections at different restaurants.
The campaign aims at focusing on hygiene practices in restaurants, so that food served at restaurants, cafeterias and even road side stalls are of the highest quality.
