The Suva City Council is now waiting for the interim government's decision on where they will relocate the people who are living in the Muanivatu squatter settlement before they decide on their next plan.
Suva Lord Mayor Ratu Peni Volavola said they have been asked by the government to extend the deadline given to the squatters from the end of this month.
Ratu Volavola believes if the piece of land in Muanivatu is developed well, then the rate payers of Suva could expect better services from the council.
