The Suva City Council has assured people that major road upgrading works on Bureta Street in Samabula will begin next month.

Following concerns raised by residents and motorists to Fijivillage News on the poor road conditions earlier this week, Director Engineering Services, Jagdish Singh told us that about $40,000 will be spent on the rehabilitation work as the portion of Bureta street will be graded and new tarsealing will be done.

He adds work is expected to start at the end of next month as the council is also looking at repairing other roads in Suva which are also in a similar state. The SCC is looking for more than $3 million to do other road upgrades.

Meanwhile Fijivillage News has been informed that some SCC workers started patching the potholes at Bureta Street after the condition of the road was highlighted yesterday morning.
