Sonny Bill Williams' decision to remain in rugby league has been met with disappointment by the Chiefs Super rugby players.

The former All Blacks second five eighth has knocked back a three-year offer from the Super Rugby champions and the New Zealand Rugby Union to play another NRL season with the Roosters.

While Counties Manukau second five Bundee Aki stands to benefit from Williams' absence at the Chiefs, he's not happy.

Aki said it is pretty disappointing as they were really looking forward to playing alongside SBW because he is a quality player.
