All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams has confirmed that he will play rugby in Japan on a lucrative short term contract starting later this year.
Williams said he just cannot refuse the offer from Japan.
The Waikato Chiefs second five eight will be receiving up to $1.2 million NZD for his short contract with the Panasonic Wild Knights and could receive more than $800,000 NZD to join the Roosters National Rugby League club.
The 26-year-old will continue to play for the Chiefs through the playoff stages of Super Rugby but will not be considered for selection for the All Blacks team for the inaugural Rugby Championship starting later this month.
The Chiefs will play the Hurricanes 7.35pm this Friday.
