The Paul Treu coached South African side has waited 10-long years to lay their hands on the 2008/2009 IRB Sevens trophy.
Speaking at Murrayfield Stadium after the 20-19 loss to the Digicel Fiji Sevens team in the finals in Edinburgh, South African coach Paul Treu said his boys have been tremendous throughout the season to scoop the trophy.
South Africa finished the series in first place on 132 points, Fiji second on 102 while England finished third on 98.
2007/2008 IRB Series winners New Zealand finished fourth on 88 points and finished the season without any wins in any of the legs during this year's series.
