The South African Sevens coach Paul Treu has named quite an experienced side for the Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament.

Treu will not have the services of his former skipper Mzwandele Stick and Marius Schoeman as they have been ruled out because of injury.

But Neil Powell, who missed all four of the IRB World Sevens Series tournaments so far because of a broken arm, has returned to the team, which is a major boost for Treu's side.

Also named in the 12-man squad are Gio Aplon, Ryno Benjamin, Mpho Mboyozo and Renfred Dazel.

South Africa will go into next week's tournament as one of the favourites after winning the Dubai and George legs of the IRB World Sevens Series this season.
