As day two of the Paris 7s looms, the 16 participating teams showed a different level of pace and strength in the opening day this morning.

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team started well by defeating Scotland 38-12 while Pacific rival Samoa thrashed Wales 52-10.

Coach Ben Ryan witnessed the brilliance of Josua Tuisova and Samisoni Viriviri on the wing while Leone Nakarawa and Waisea Nayacalevu contributed heavily on most phases of play against Scotland.

Ryan says that Wales will be tough and they will take one game at a time.

He says that the new players made an instant impact and will now sharpen some of their skills and fitness over the next couple of months.

The national side scored six tries to two to outclass the Scottish side.

Fiji was leading 21-5 at halftime.
