Ryan to do things the Fijian way
Ryan was announced as Fiji's new head coach on Friday, having completed the deal with their rugby union on Thursday evening.
In an interview with ESPN, Ryan said he is a bit nervous about it but as a coach, he really wants the best talent available in Fiji.
Ryan said he will be lucky if he has more than a couple of training sessions before the Gold Coast so everyone has to be a little bit patient before they start to see the gains he is going to give.
According to Ryan he is not intending to do things the English way, but the Fijian way and that he has to adapt as much as he can.
He said one aspect of his role will be to get some class operators who can one day take over from him when he moves on and try to bring some consistent performance levels to the team.
Ryan said that he is not really looking forward to playing England and hopes that it does not happen for a while.
He added that he is wearing a different white shirt now and he is going to do everything he can to make Fiji the best team in the world.
