The Vodafone Fiji 7s coach has picked Joeli Lutumailagi as his best player of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament after day 1.

Lutumailagi who plays for Tabadamu has been impressive scoring six tries in the first day of the competition including two in their cup elimination win over Marist 2.

Ben Ryan said Lutumailagi caught his attention yesterday.


Tabadamu has been the impressive team after day one as they went undefeated in their pool.

Coach George Qaranikula they are ready for today's matches.


Tabadamu has the services of Setefano Cakau, Sitiveni Waqa, Jone Vota, David Batiratu and Nasoni Roko.

Tabadamu defeated Marist 2 41-0 in the first cup elimination and will meet Red Rock in the second round of cup eliminations today.

In other first round of cup eliminations result, Westfield Babas beat Lomaiviti 14-10, Army defeated Nasavu Gold 26-0, Marist beat Uprising 12-7, Hideaway Hurricanes outclassed Tauranga 31-7, Wardens Green upset Wellington 34-0.

The second round of cup eliminations kicks off at 10.45 this morning with defending Champions Westfield Babas taking on Waimanu.
