As the Fiji 7s men’s team gets ready for the Olympic 7s competition to kick off on Wednesday morning, coach Ben Ryan and the team know that they need to deliver outstanding performances to create history in Rio.
Ryan has told the ABC that the team knows that this is a very important journey for the whole country.
Speaking about taking up the coaching role for Fiji, Ryan says he has come through some interesting challenges from the time he had the skype interview with the FRU but it has also been an adventure for him and his wife.
Ryan says they have done a lot of work since 2013.
Team Fiji has been competing in the Summer Olympics since 1956 and hopes are high that the Fiji men’s 7s team will win the first ever gold medal in the Olympics 7s competition.
