Digicel Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan is disappointed with how most of the players in the national training squad performed today and he hopes they will lift their performance later in the Bayleys Coral Coast 7s tournament but he is impressed with Semi Kunatani of Yamacia.

Ryan said he is happy with Kunatani’s performance after he guided his Yamacia side to a 17-10 victory over Pio Tuwai’s Tokatoka Westfield Babas team.


Meanwhile former Redrock speedster Jone Macilai scored a try as he helped Northland who played as Ratuva Horse Riding upset  defending champions Redrock 17 12.

Hideaway Hurricanes with the services of Sakiusa Gavidi and Jasa Veremalua made a blistering start to the tournament after beating Wardens Gold 36 12. 

Wardens had national play maker Ilai Tinai, Sakiusa Nadruku, Leo Naikasau and Beniamino Maravu.

A star studded Serevi Select side kicked off their campaign on a high beating Warwick 25 15.

Veteran Ben Gollings, Iliesa Ratuva, Osea Kolinisau and USA 7s rep Mike Palefau scored a try each.

In other matches, Police with Etonia Naba, Samisoni Viriviri, Peni Gaunimeke and Ulaiyasi Lawavou, thrashed Wardens Green 31 0 while Emosi Mulevoro’s Army team beat Naviti 24 5.
