Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan believes he has the side capable of creating history and become the first Fiji 7s team to win back to back titles in the HSBC World 7s Series this weekend.
Ryan has confidence in the caliber of players that is in the team and it’s all about preparing the players to be in the right mind set before the tournament kicks off.
Ryan said a win in Dubai will give Fiji serious breathing space in terms of the Rio Olympic Games and send them into 2015 with a huge tailwind.
Ryan has won the Dubai 7s title twice as coach of the England 7s team in 2010 and 2011 and a third one when he started as coach of the Vodafone Fiji 7s team last year.
Despite just in his second year as coach of Fiji 7s, Ryan is delighted with where Fiji is at the moment, and he believes they are on the verge of a golden era for sevens.
The Dubai 7s kicks off this Friday with the Vodafone Fiji 7s team taking on France in their first pool match at 6.44pm.
They will later meet Brazil at 9.44pm.
Their last pool match is against Argentina at 1.52am Saturday.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 8pm Saturday, the Cup semifinals are at 1.55am Sunday while the Cup final kicks off at 3.42am.
