New Zealand rugby 7s legend Eric Rush has suggested that former All Blacks 7s coach Sir Gordon Tietjens could be a worthy replacement for Olympic Gold Medal winning coach Ben Ryan.

While speaking at the Spinal Injuries Association of Fiji Charity dinner at GPH last night, Rush says it is entirely up to the Fiji Rugby Union whether they want to approach Sir Gordon Tietjiens.

Rush has also termed Fiji’s Gold medal win in Rio as extremely special for a country that is truly passionate about sevens rugby.

The All Blacks 7s team and Vodafone Fiji 7s team are yet to appoint new coaches after the departure of Sir Gordon Tietjens and Ben Ryan.

The Dubai 7s kicks off on December 2nd.

Meanwhile Rush says the Fiji Rugby Union should also work on getting the All Blacks to play here in Fiji.

All Blacks Legend, Richie McCaw’s jersey was also auctioned last night along with a Crusaders rugby ball signed by Kieran Reid.

Rugby League player Josh Mansour’s jersey was also auctioned.

All the money collected at the dinner is to assist the Spinal Injuries Association in looking after people living with spinal injuries and physical impairment.
