We could soon see many different colored registration plates on public service vehicles which would be servicing rural areas around the country.
As the Ministry of Transport intends to deregulate the transport services in selected rural areas, Media Officer Sainiana Waqainabete told Fijivillage that these special license holders will not be allowed to operate outside their designated areas.
Waqainabete said they are calling for public submissions on the proposed fares to be charged by those who will provide services in rural areas.
The Ministry is currently assessing expressions of interests from minivan, carrier and even private vehicle owners who would be given special licenses to operate in selected rural areas in the Central, Eastern and Northern Divisions.
