Those caught spreading rumours to destabilize government will be prosecuted.

Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Colonel Pio Tikoduadua made the comments after clarifying rumors of a supposed split between the government and the military, as well as the removal of Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khayium and Solicitor General Christopher Pryde.

Colonel Tikoduadua said the law is clear that if anyone is caught spreading malicious rumors that could destabilize the government, they will face the consequences in a court of law, as it is against the law to be doing so.

Colonel Tikoduadua also called on people to be united, as rumours will not assist the country in moving forward.
