A rugby player charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm appeared in the Suva Magistrate's court this morning.

It is alleged that on 29th December last year, Samu Saumaisue punched a police officer who was assisting two female police officers conducting road blocks in front of the Flagstaff Police post.

The Police Officer told the court today, how Saumaisue asked him if they record the registration numbers of passing vehicles as he had forgotten his mobile phone in the taxi.

It is alleged that Samu started accusing the officer that he was not doing his work and it is alleged that in the process Samu punched the officer who received injuries.

The case continues this afternoon.
