World rugby 7s giants South Africa, Kenya, Samoa, Argentina, Australia and France have confirmed their participation in the Fiji International 7s tournament.

The Fiji Rugby Union is re-launching the Fiji International 7s 13 years after it was last held in Fiji.

The last tournament was in 2000 when Fiji hosted a leg of the IRB Sevens World Series.

Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer, Manasa Baravilala said this tournament is part of the FRU's Centennial Celebrations.

Baravilala added that despite the 13 year break, he is proud to announce that they have been able to secure 16 International teams for the two day event.

Baravilala also said with the recent successful hosting of the Classic All Blacks, Fiji now boasts an international stadium that would enable FRU to bid for international matches including a leg of the IRB 7s Series.

Other teams that have confirmed their participation include American Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, PNG, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Tuvalu, United Arab Emirates and USA.

The Fiji International 7s will be held on the 4th and 5th of October at the ANZ Stadium.
