Sacramento Police are still investigating the shooting incident in the US earlier today which resulted in the death of Fijian athlete, Roy Ravana Junior in South Sacramento.

His father, Roy Ravana Senior confirmed to Fijivillage earlier today that he had received confirmation from the US that his 21 year old son’s body has been identified.

Roy Ravana Senior said he has received information that some unknown people shot Roy Junior and other people who were in a house.

He said the Marist Old Boys and the Fijian community in Sacramento are liaising with the Police there.

Roy Senior confirmed that arrangements are underway for him to fly over to the US to bring his son back home for the funeral.

Meanwhile CBS News in Sacramento is reporting that one person is dead and another person was injured after the shooting.

A Sacramento police K9 took one person into custody a couple of blocks south at 48th Street and Perry Avenue.

They are trying to determine if that person is related to the shooting.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting.

KFBK Radio said witnesses reported seeing two young men riding around on a girl’s mountain bike carrying what appeared to be large black hunting rifles.

A police helicopter searched for the suspects, while officers checked yards and houses in the area.

The suspects have been described as two Hispanic males.

The late Roy Ravana Junior went to Marist Brothers High School from 2008 to 2012 and was an outstanding athlete for Marist which also resulted in him getting a scholarship to go to the US.

He won gold for Marist in the 4x400 metres Senior Boys in 2012 and their record still stands.

Roy Ravana Junior was also part of the 4x100 metres Fiji team that won silver in the 2011 Pacific Games in Noumea.
