The Sydney Roosters have swept aside Newcastle 40-14 to set up a NRL grand final meeting with Manly.

The Roosters ran in seven tries to two in a convincing win, with two tries in the 10 minutes before halftime allowing the home side to take in a 12-4 lead in a half where they dominated possession.

Sonny Bill Williams had been in doubt for the match because of a virus but he showed no ill effects with a match-high seven offloads.

He said it was a team effort that set up the Roosters victory, rather than individual performances.

Meanwhile, Manly defeated South Sydney 30-20 on Friday to reach the grand final.
