The fate of former FNPF general manager and CEO Olota Rokovunisei is expected to be decided by the assessors tomorrow after the summing up by Justice Priyantha Fernando.

While summing up the case, FICAC lawyer Shalini Sanmorgam said Rokovunisei had acted deliberately when he took the responsibility allowance.

She said the allowance was not part of his contract and he was bound by the contract as the board had delegated the extra duties.

Rokovunisei is charged with extortion by a public servant, alternative count of abuse of office and abuse of office.

Defense lawyer Samanunu Vaniqi told the court that taking a responsibility allowance was not something rare as it was given out in the 1980s, and that her client took the allowance for extra duties which was delegated to him.
