Acting Chief Registrar, Ana Rokomokoti has been confirmed into the post by Acting President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

Ratu Epeli exercised his powers pursuant to section 3(1) of the Administration of Justice Decree 2009 and section 3 of the Office of the Vice President and Succession Decree 2009.

In a statement, Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Aiyaz Sayed - Khaiyum said the appointment was a step in the direction of Government's vision of a corrupt free and efficient judicial system.

He adds amongst the work that the Chief Registrar was undertaking to streamline the registries for better case management and dealing with them in a timely and efficient manner.

This includes investigating complaints against lawyers, prosecuting lawyers before the Independent Legal Services Commissioner and supervising the administration services of the Judicial Department.

Rokomokoti has been appointed for a term of three years with effect from 11th April, 2009.
