Robber gets 9 months
Surend Prasad, who is in his early 30s, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of larceny by servant and two counts of robbery with violence.
Prasad who has previous convictions used a pen knife to threaten the innocent victims and stole items including mangal sutra and gold necklaces.
Items worth $1000 were recovered by the police.
Magistrate Ajmal Gulaab Khan while sentencing Prasad to nine month imprisonment said that Prasad knew of the consequences but attacked the innocent people.
Meanwhile, a 25 year old former employee of a prominent retail outlet charged with larceny by servant escaped a jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
On 26th May last year, Shalendra Nilesh Chand who was the manager Fone Section of the outlet stole a Blackberry and two Nokia mobile phones worth more than $1,299 and cash more than $400 from the finance section.
Magistrate Ajmal Gulab Khan sentenced him to 6 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
