Road death toll now 23 after weekend accidents
Two of the three dead were pedestrians.
Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra said drivers must take their warnings seriously adding when they are behind the wheel, they are responsible for their passengers lives, the lives of those on the road and their own lives.
Mishra said drivers need to know the importance of sticking to road rules and if they don't then consequences are most likely fatal.
A 14yr old girl was killed with her 10yr old brother in critical condition in hospital after they were hit by a man driving a rental car on Khalsa Rd on Friday morning.
On Saturday night a 38yr old man was standing on the roadside with another when he was hit by a vehicle in Veisari, Lami. It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road claiming the life of the 38yr old and landing the driver in the hospital.
And on Sunday morning, soccer referee Leone Rakoroi and two others were in a van when he lost control of the vehicle on the Queens Road and in the process hit a lamp post where live wire fell on the vehicle, electrocuting Rakoroi.
The road death toll is now 23 compared to 25 for the same period last year.
