Road death toll increases
Police Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the 32 year old man was crossing the road towards Narere when he was bumped by a car driven by a 56 year old man.
The man was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The driver has been questioned and released pending investigations.
The road death toll now stands at 29 compared to 23 last year.
Meanwhile, during this weekend the highway patrol will continue its joint operation together with Ready Action Unit and Land transport Authority, along the Suva-Nausori corridor.
Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra said teams will also conduct searches on suspected drivers, passengers and pedestrians which they believe to be involved in criminal activities.
SSP Mishra added the highway patrol will also conduct breathalyzer operations in the areas of operation and all the arrested suspects will be escorted to respective police stations where necessary actions will be taken against them moreover highway patrol will operate radar guns on queen=s highway and will book drivers who speed.
