Two people have died while seven others are in serious condition at the Sigatoka hospital after the twin cab they were travelling in veered off the road and tumbled in the Sigatoka Valley Rd yesterday afternoon.

Assistant Spokesperson, Sergeant Suliano Tevita has confirmed that the nine were travelling towards Sigatoka town when the 20yr old driver lost control.

The vehicle went off the road and tumbled twice.

The driver and a 30yr old passenger died instantly.

The Post mortems are expected to be carried out later today.

Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra said people travelling along the Suva-Nausori Corridor should watch their speed limit to avoid getting into trouble with the lawmakers and the loss of lives.

He said police will have radars in certain places along the Suva to Nausori corridor.

He adds drivers speeding near Laqere Bridge while going to Nausori or coming towards Suva should think of the consequences as a person just lost his life there on New Year’s Eve.

Mishra is calling on drivers to work together with Police to bring down road fatalities this year.
