The road death toll now stands at 16 after a 62 year old lost his life on our roads yesterday.

Police Spokesperson Corporal Suliano Tevita confirmed that the 62 year old who was driving a rental car was headed towards Nadi when he lost control of the vehicle at a bend in Korovisilou, Queens Road and collided with an oncoming three tonne truck coming from the opposite direction.

He was rushed to the Navua hospital where he later died while the driver of the truck and three other passengers are still admitted in hospital.

Police, the Land Transport Authority and the National Road Safety Council reiterate their call for all drivers to adhere to road rules and practice defensive driving to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities on our roads.
