Estimated costs of loss annually to the economy due to road accidents and deaths amounts to about 30 to 40 million dollars.

Transport and Works Minister Colonel Timoci Natuva said motorists and pedestrians need to be responsible and avoid any form of road accidents which will eventually incur costs to the economy.

As the extension of the four-lane Nokonoko Road and Bridge was opened over the weekend, Natuva said new and better roads have been noted to be an attraction for speeding and we should exercise responsibility with these changes.

He said road carnages or accidents mean great loss to system and damage infrastructure and drivers should ensure that these losses are eliminated and our roads are made safer.
