The materials used for road repairs are easily washed away and as a result the roads need to be continuously resealed.

Road Supervisor for the Central Division, Foama Nagera said that due to environmental issues, the 500 roads that the Council is in charge of, can only undergo a facelift with the materials they have, which although environmentally friendly, are easily washed away during rainy weather.

This follows complaints from residents that the resealing of roads has led to uneven roads.

Nagera also adds that many of the roads in the Central Division have exceeded their lifespan of 15 to 20 years and with only two weeks left before many of their workers go on leave, the Council has been trying to do their best with the short time available.

He also adds that the rehabilitation of all 500 roads has led the Council to do a total of 5 to 6 roads in a week.
