Former Bua Provincial Council chairman Ratu Filimoni Ralogaivau believes that past governments decisions to award private contractors to maintain the roads in Bua, has been the contributing factor that has led to poor road conditions in the province.

Ralogaivau said while the report by Dr Warden Narsey has found that the Bua Province is worst hit by poverty, it is not surprising since most of the people rely on the roads to transport their goods to Nabouwalu, and if it is not properly looked after then they will suffer.

He said with the road maintenance been carried out by private contractors, it has left the Public Works Department without any resources to continue with the repair work when the roads are in a poor condition.
