The head of the Burebasaga confederacy Ro Teimumu Kepa is highly likely to lead the Social Democratic Liberal Party in the general elections later this year.
Senior party sources said Ro Teimumu Kepa is the preferred choice at the moment although former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and a few other senior party officials have shown interest in taking up the SODELPA leader’s position.
A committee is currently assessing the names.
When questioned, SODELPA General Secretary Pio Tabaiwalu has only said that the new leader’s name will be revealed by the end of this month.
Ro Teimumu is the President of SODELPA at the moment.
The party is also awaiting the gazetting of the Electoral Decree before deciding on its list of candidates for the elections.
