Committee members and the Fiji TV crew that were taken into custody for allegedly hindering police work at Rishikul have all been released while Rishikul Sanatan College Principal, Mahendra Pal is now in office.

This has been confirmed by Police Officer In Charge, Valelevu ASP Manoj Singh who adds that Police will continue to monitor the situation until it is resolved adding that so far the situation has returned to normal.

ASP Singh said that Police will also be present at the school tomorrow and this is to maintain peace and stability and to ensure that the security of the children remain paramount.

School Manager, Vijay Nair said that they will continue to protest until the Education Ministry transfers the Principal in question.

Nair then referred all questions to his lawyer Rajend Chaudhry who is currently in a meeting.

The Interim Minister for Education, Filipe Bole said the resolution process is ongoing and it will take some time before everything is resolved amicably.

The Principal of Rishikul Sanatan College was taken into his office at the school premises in Valelevu by the police to ensure that he started work at the school this morning.

Although the school management has been maintaining that they do not want the Principal, Mahendra Pal, Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni has told Village News that the Education Ministry requested the assistance of the police to ensure that Pal gets into the school office this morning.

Manager of Rishikul Sanatan College, Vijay Nair, some committee members, and a reporter and cameraman of Fiji TV were taken into custody at Valelevu Police Station for allegedly hindering the work of the police officers at Rishikul.
