Former Editor in Chief of the Fiji Times, Netani Rika is reported to have accepted an offer from the Australian National University.

According to the Australian, Rika will spend time in Canberra writing his account of the four years spent in the local media since the events of December 5th, 2006.

Rika, who has spent a total of 22 years in the mainstream media industry in Fiji, resigned from his post at the Fiji Times last week which according to publisher Dallas Swinstead was something of a sacrifice on his part.

Swinstead had informed Fijivillage that it was a well known fact of the relationship between Rika and the Government, adding talks between the two resulted in Rika opting to resign.

It is understood that Rika will sort some issues out in the country before taking up the ANU post.
