It was history in making for the Rewa soccer team at Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday when the team brought Lautoka's record of 34 consecutive wins in the National soccer league competition to an end.
A few years back Rewa had ended Ba's unbeaten record at Govind Park but the win against the Blues yesterday was sweeter.
Rewa's lone goal was scored by Captain, Marika Rodu through a penalty when James Naka was brought down in the penalty box by Lautoka defender Krishna Sami.
Speaking to Fijivillage after the game, Rodu credited his players for having confidence and holding on for the 1-0 win.
Rewa played with nine men in the last quarter of the game as James Naka and star striker, Ratu Veresa Toma were shown red card.
Meanwhile, in other National soccer league matches played yesterday, Tavua upset Nadi 2-1, Suva beat Nadroga 1-0 and Fiji Under 20 proved too strong for Nasinu winning 4-1.
Lautoka still leads the points table with 44 points and are followed by Navua who are on second spot with 32 points.
